Chioggia, VE, Italy, October 2nd, 2024: Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Radio Clodia has chosen a DHD SX2 audio mixing console and XC3 IP processing core in a major upgrade of the production facilities at its studio headquarters. The project was supervised by Milan-based broadcast systems supplier and integrator BVmedia.
Radio Clodia was established in Chioggia in 1984. The station transmits on FM 103.6 to listeners in the Veneto region of northern Italy, supplemented on the web at www.radioclodia.it and via its own apps for direct delivery to a variety of digital platforms. Radio Clodia’s output is predominantly music favouring Italian and international successes from the 1980s to today as well as news and information.
“It is with great pleasure that we welcome Radio Clodia, a historic local station from Chioggia, to our family of clients,” says Roberto Zeccara, BVmedia Senior Project Manager. “As part of a project to restructure all their broadcast systems, they turned to us for the complete digitisation and optimisation of their internal technical resources.”
“Radio Clodia naturally chose top-quality products, including a 10-channel DHD SX2 which is being used both as the studio console and for audio routing. AoIP Dante channel mapping is fully shared across the entire production and broadcast structure. Well known for its versatility, fast setup and ease of operation, the SX2 is easily configured to allow on-air presenters to work confidently in self-op mode. Efficiency-related features include immediate recall of snapshots, scenes and surface layouts. DHD’s AssistApp was also purchased.”
“A further advantage of DHD mixing systems is that they are easy to configure as well as intuitive to operate, eliminating the burden of extensive and complex training. Assignable control buttons combined with the versatility of the TFT touchscreen allows operators to configure the mixer to their exact preferences without significant technical support.”
“The DHD SX2 mixer also integrated perfectly with other elements of the project such as the AVT telephone hybrid solution.”
SX2 consoles are based on a compact central module with four 100 mm motorised faders. An integral 10.1 inch display screen allows operators to see exactly how each console is configured both from connectivity and signal level perspectives. The central module gives access to the most important audio inputs and outputs. A microphone input and headphone output are included and loudspeakers can be connected directly. SX2 consoles can be expanded by adding one or more modules, each incorporating six motorised faders. Functions such as loudness metering and talkback to other DHD mixers are also supported.
The DHD XC3 IP core comprises two dual-core DSP modules which combine into 1U. These jointly support up to 48 stereo faders, 72 stereo buses and 16 channels of AES67 IP audio. IPx expansion modules can be added to accommodate 128 channels of AES67/Ravenna IP audio in/out plus up to 512 Dante channels. A companion module, the XC3 Concentrator, allows easy interconnection of multiple DHD IPx modules, control surfaces and I/O modules.
DHD’s Assist app is a browser-based application which allows a secure network-connected technician to provide onsite or remote support for presenters during their daily production activity. DHD SX2 and RX2 as well as TX2 touch panels can be supervised via a tablet or a PC. The remote user can control faders and central modules, including any of the integrated displays. The Assist app mixer layout can be configured directly using DHD Toolbox software.
