Latest PRIME VSAR Update Provides New Features for Camera Tracking, NDI & IP Connectivity, Automated Rundown Control, and Unreal© 5 Compatibility

Las Vegas, NV – April 6, 2025 – At the 2025 NAB Show, Chyron is showcasing the latest 2.1 release of PRIME VSAR – an Unreal© based virtual set and augmented reality engine that is tailored to empower producers to easily leverage exciting virtual elements in their everyday news productions. PRIME VSAR 2.1 offers compatibility with all the latest virtual production technologies – such as Unreal Engine© 5.4, nDisplay, NDI streams, and IP-based camera tracking protocols. Additionally, PRIME VSAR delivers exciting new features for hybrid tracked / trackless productions, newsroom automation, and custom control interfaces.

Alongside compatibility with Unreal Engine© 5.4, PRIME VSAR 2.1 provides integration with Unreal© nDisplay, a tool favored by producers for its ease of use in translating virtual content to ultra-large and non-standard resolution LED displays. By combining PRIME VSAR and nDisplay, producers can easily stitch together outputs from multiple PRIME VSAR engines to create a fluid composite render on an LED video wall. Additionally, PRIME VSAR’s internal Cesium camera tracking software generates a parallax effect on video wall outputs when tracking studio cameras.

Adding to the creative opportunities, Version 2.1 also introduces an exciting new feature that allows for seamless transition between trackless and tracked cameras within a virtual set. Producers can even alternate between cameras that utilize different tracking systems within PRIME VSAR. There is a lot of creative potential for users to create dynamic, captivating scenes and transitions with a combination of real-life and virtual camera shots that flow seamlessly together through interpolating transitions.

Another key element of the PRIME VSAR 2.1 release is connectivity, introducing the option for NDI inputs and outputs for virtual production, as well as adding support for IP camera tracking protocols.

One of the most impactful benefits for PRIME VSAR customers, is the tight integration with CAMIO – Chyron’s MOS-driven graphic template management solution – that enables producers to drive an entire virtual production from their Newsroom Computer System (NRCS) of choice. With version 2.1, this leading newsroom workflow continues to grow, with the implementation of Chyron Intelligent Interface (CII) automation protocols. Now, producers can choose to run the PRIME VSAR playout rundown entirely from the same CII-compliant automation system of their choice that drives the rest of their news productions.

“With PRIME VSAR 2.1, our team wanted to give customers more opportunities to be creative: making use of studio LED screens, unlocking dynamic tracked-to-trackless transitions, and providing new options for connectivity,” said Sebastian Berdichevsky, product manager of PRIME VSAR at Chyron “We’re continuing to build the excitement at the 2025 NAB Show, where we’re also showing an early look at PRIME VSAR 2.2. The next version is going to offer Unreal Engine© 5.5 compatibility, as well as a simple workflow for importing Unreal lens calibration files into our Cesium tracking software. However, the most exciting development coming down the pipe is the ability to deploy PRIME VSAR as an Unreal© plugin. This is going to deliver massive benefits to customers’ in-house designers and external freelancers who want to leverage our toolset in their own Unreal design environment.”
